** The Balance as of
January 1, 2009 would suggest that our club made a profit of $2,504.57.
This is not the Case! In November and December of '08, we
collected club and NCGA dues, plus tournament entry fees. These
monies ballooned our club's account. The NCGA payment wasn't paid
until mid January of '09, and would have wiped out any profit shown on
December 31 of '08.Our club's bank balance as of 1/31/09 is
$7,518.74. This balance more closely reflects the end of the year
expenses and deposits.
* The amount spent on club prizes is not quite accurate. At the
January 2008 tournament at Spanos, the club's payment per player
included a $5.00 prize fee. This fee was spent at the Spanos
Clubhouse and distributed as tournament prizes. That amounted to a little over $200.00. Also the
December 2008 tournament at Woodcreek had a $5.00 prize fee. That
prize fund money is about $90.00, which is in a gift card that hasn't
been used as of this date.
In conclusion, our club is performing as I had hoped it would.
For the past two years, we have spent just about what we have collected.
I think we have improved our quantity and quality of prizes and still haven't over spent.
